a new semester.

Like I promised, here’s a little update on my classes this semester.  I’m only taking two, so I’m hoping I can pick up a part-time job as well to help out with finances.  I want to save a few thousand dollars this year, but it just isn’t feasible unless I have a job too.  That’s for a different post  though!

I’m taking Tennessee history and French.  I think my homework load is definitely going to be minimal, especially in the Tenneessee history class.  So far it seems to be a little dry because of the lecture style of my professor.  I will give him the benefit of the doubt since he is currently recovering from bronchitis.

I only have four grades in the class, so I have to do well on exams.  It shouldn’t be a huge problem since my test anxiety has greatly reduced from its previous levels.  I’m a lot more confident than I used to be about taking exams.  Woot.

I love my French class, especially since I have the same teacher as I had last semester.  I don’t enjoy the people as much this time around.  There are a lot more people in this class (~25 versus the 11 of last semester).  There are two women in my class from last semester, so I sit with them now and feel a lot more comfortable with speaking.  It’s still difficult to really feel confident in a foreign language though.

You’ll notice the lack of a photography class.  I personally feel like this is a good thing, but I’m sure others will disagree.  I enjoy photography and I still want to spend my life doing it, but screw those classes.  I can be a self-learner!

Strangely, I’ve had an easier time with talking to people in general and might be on my way to making a couple of friends.  This is good news, haha.

It was quite a bit easier to return to school after a month-long break instead of a two year break.  I didn’t want to go the first day, but now that I’m getting back into that routine, I’m feeling less “uggggh, do I have to?” about it.

Hopefully finding a job, even one that doesn’t pay the best, won’t be too difficult.  I’m not looking to make a career out of whatever job I get. :)

Glad to hear your French class is getting better. I took french way back in college. I can still speak a little but not enough to converse anymore. I wish I would have stuck with it.
