Strange Anniversary.

Sorry for the lack of posts.  I fail at new year resolutions, obviously.

I’m attempting to do a lot of DIY projects right now and I’m so frustrated!  I’m photo-documenting them, of course, but man.  I’m not getting much done.

I’ve slacked in my studies as well, especially French.  I even skipped class yesterday.  Yikes!  I think I’m doing decently in the attendance area this semester, as I’ve only missed one class meeting.  If you know me at all, this is a major deal.  When I was at UT, I routinely skipped at least one class a week.  Heh.  What a difference a few years can make.

So my post today is to celebrate being a resident of the Boro for an entire year.  Apparently this is the day we officially moved into our previous cesspool of an apartment.  I can’t believe how fast time flies, and definitely can’t believe how much has changed in the year we have been here.

We moved here.  Brett’s mom died.  We made some friends.  We both started school again.  We celebrated a year of marriage. Brett quit Cracker Hell and found a teaching related job (or two).  We got another cat.  We moved again after being here for six months.  Lost some friends.  I’m still a lazy and unemployed “house wife” (the one thing that DIDN’T change).  Weird.

I’m thinking that I might even want to live in this apartment we’re currently in for another year just for the sake of not moving.  It isn’t the best place in the world.  I severely dislike our upstairs neighbors, as well as some of the dog owners that let their dogs poop in front of our patio and don’t clean it up.  I also can’t forget the man that lets his yapper dogs run wild and chase after cats, including once sitting inside apartments (he lets them run up to the window and bark/scare the cats).  If they raise our rent come renewal time, which must be done at the end of May, then we’ll be moving.  I’ve found better deals on bigger and nicer apartments in the area.  The downside to those complexes is that they are farther from campus.  It’s not like I actually bike there though (sad face).  I hate moving, but we need a better value if our rent goes up.  We do have some leverage to negotiate price since there are nicer places and our complex is never totally full.  I guess we’ll see.  But like I said, for once I’m actually willing to stay in one place for longer than six months.

I guess I’m getting old, ha.

I hope your week is going well.  I’m counting down the days to the weekend so we can get our major DIY project finished: an upholstered, tufted headboard.
